2012BedrockRose2012 Bedrock, Rose “Ode to Lulu, California.
Morgan Twain-Peterson’s Bedrock Wine Company is one of the hottest California producers right now, making true California wines that are focused on heritage vines and old sites, as well as trying to pay tribute to the classic field blends that were the norm back in the day. These are wines that rely on natural fermentations, mostly neutral wood and show the place and vintage unabashed or embellished, making for unique and raw wines that are exciting and interesting, and Bedrock’s latest set are head turners no question, even in these last difficult years of 2010 and 2011. Bedrock also produces a fantastic pure Rose wine, called Ode to Lulu, a tribute to the most famous of Bandol rose Domaine Tempier and is made from mostly old vine Mourvedre (like Tempier) plus other black grapes. This 2012 is severely pale and delicate in color, but huge on class and flavor, easily one of the top California rose wines with good intensity, vibrancy and loads of pleasure. The Ode to Lulu has a mineral laced and spicy nose with hints of sour cherries, watermelon, plum and red citrus with touches of nectarine, pepper and earthy notes. This is vivid, inciting and delicious Rose, best to grab this gem while you can, it will certainly sell out fast!
