2025 Château Gassier, Côtes de Provence Rosé, Provence, France.
The lovely Gassier Côtes de Provence Rosé 2025 is just out and a tasty treat made from Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Vermentino (Rolle) and is wonderfully delicately pale in the glass with a subtle pinkish/salmon hue, but with rewording depth and rounded texture. The light/medium bodied palate is extremely well focused and mineral driven with a kiss of Mediterranean sun ad sea, giving a warm array of sour cherry, strawberry, ruby grapefruit and nectarine along with hints of rosewater, lavender and wet stone in a bright and lively package. This crisply dry Rosé is exactly what you’d want from a top Provence Rosé and does it in style and with elegance in the bottle. This packaging stands out, which is helpful as there’s a huge selection of Provence Rosé out there and you would be best to chose wisely and grab some of the Gassier!

Château Gassier, led by winemaker Georges Gassier and oenologist Léa Rouyet, (are) a leader in organic, clean cellar practices and harmony with nature here in Provence, says that this wine comes from Provençal vineyards, a few kilometres from the beautiful city of Aix-en-Provence, close to the Mediterranean sea and at the foot of the Sainte-Victoire mountain. The rocky bar of the Sainte-Victoire asserts a continental microclimate and somewhat mitigates the vivacity of the Mistral, which I known is the wind that blows fiercely through the Luberon and to the sea. The terroir here, with its iron rich red clay and limestone base, allows for perfect ripening of the grapes and the retention of acidity that really makes these wines stand out for freshness and purity. The all organic and hand picked grapes are 100% de-stemed and gently pressed to settle and ferment in cool vats where it is tank raised and bottled quickly to preserve transparent flavors and bright intensity. For a fraction of the price of Bandol Rosé and or Cassis Rosé, another favorite of mine, this Gassier is an excellent value too, so I look forward to Summer sipping this stuff without any guilt in the wallet!
