2011 Skylark, Rose “Pink Belly” Mendocino County.
One of the finest California pinks of the vintage so far belongs to Skylark and their lovely fresh 2011 “Pink Belly” made from Grenache grown in Mendocino. Seriously vivid and vibrant, the Pink Belly has citrus, spice and mineral notes along with classic watermelon, strawberry and tart cherries making for a perfect Spring and Summer quaffer. It is Rose time, and Skylark has really crafted a gem that transports you to Provence, and is very Tavel like and pure sunshine in the glass, this is not Rose to miss this season. I enjoy Rose year round myself, and I will be savoring this one while it lasts, no question this is fine and beautiful wine.
