2009 Domaine Daniel Chotard, Sancerre Rouge “Le Chant de l’ Archer” Loire Valley, France.
This stylish and richly textured Pinot Noir from the Loire Valley really turns on the charms from start to finish, making this beautiful Sancerre Rouge a winner. Known for fantastic whites, Domaine Chotard has crafted a lovely red that transcends regions, while still delivering terroir and sense of place. The nose has rose petals, sweet herbs and hints of truffle earthiness leading to a round silky palate of cherry, raspberry, plum and dried currants with hints of smoke, mineral and tea spices while touches of fennel, soft wood and refined acidity add to the layers of pleasure on offer in this elegant and flavor filled Pinot Noir. It might take a bit of work to find this wine, but it will be it’s own reward to savor this unique Sancerre Rouge. Imported by Kermit Lynch.
