2009 Waits-Mast, Pinot Noir “Deer Meadows Vineyard” ( A Richard Savoy Vineyard) Anderson Valley.
Don’t mis this classy Anderson Valley Pinot crafted by Waits-Mast, that comes of the Deer Meadows site, owned by the famed Richard Savoy (Savoy Vineyard, made famous by suppling grapes to top Pinot producers like Littorai) making for a Burgundy like class of wine, transparent and vivid with wild strawberry, mineral, spice and clear focus. Only 2 barrels were made of this wine, coming from clone 115 and Wadenswil, which seem perfect for this cool site in Anderson Valley. This vintage is the best yet for this tiny handcrafted artisan winemakers Brian Mast and Jennifer Waits, without question a beautiful and detailed Pinot with cherry and raspberry fruit, violets, rose petals, truffle and framed with subtle French oak char, vanilla and lavender, this is a wine of pure quality from start to finish showing nice acidity and fine details.
