2010 Domaine Camus-Bruchon, Savigny-Les-Beaune “Aux Grands Liards” Vieilles Vignes, Red Burgundy, France.
This 2010 Aux Grands Liards from Camus-Bruchon is a wonderfully pure and classic Burgundy that shows Savigny Les Beaune rustic character and the clarity of the vintage, which is everything you’d ever want from a Burgundy. This impressive old vines red Burgundy has earthy red currants, cherry and plum fruits with mineral notes and peppery spices to go with that bright fruit. Good vigor and soft tannins along with balanced acidity keeps these together in this pretty wine. While you might be tempted to drink it up now, it will gain with a few more years and drink well from 2015-2020 easy. Camus-Bruchon is very traditional and uses mostly neutral oak, maybe 20% new on most wines and there is a touch of edgy earth and game that comes through in their wines, though this wine is very clean and shows transparent red fruits from start to finish. This is the most refined Pinot Noir I’ve tried from this Domaine and it is a true gem, even in a vintage that will certainly produce more than a few wonderful wines. For those old school Burg drinkers, this wine is a most and it delivers quality and pleasure way beyond it’s price.
